I spotted this polished granite bench at the Botanical Gardens today. Your guess is as good as mine as to what the protruding phallic thing is all about.
There was no sign explaining it's purpose or the country of origin, but Greek would be my guess for both.
And hell no, I didn't touch the Plus™ part.

Where I am, the powers that be bolt metal rails and whatnot to benches, planters, and low walls to discourage skateboarders. Perhaps this is the same kind of device, but designed by an ariste instead of a janitor?
I don't know of any skaters that would pay $6 to visit some gardens.
This thing is a replica of some kind of ancient bench from another land, that much I know.
An interesting theory, though.
